Further escalation in the months-long trade dispute between the U.S. administration and the European Union has now been prevented through the conclusion of a trade framework. Simone Menne, President of AmCham Germany, emphasizes: "A 15 percent base tariff is better than 30 percent, but nothing is better for prosperity, investment and jobs than a zero percent base tariff and the removal of all non-tariff barriers to trade. These should remain priorities of the transatlantic partnership. Now it is important to swiftly work out the details of the framework agreement and ensure that the reliability currently achieved in economic policy is maintained in the months and years to come. This is in the best interests of the EU and the U.S. as well as transatlantic business."
