The American Chamber of Commerce in Germany and its Regional Chapter North Rhine-Westphalia hosted the annual Summer Barbecue on Wednesday, August 23 in Meerbusch that brought together members of the transatlantic business community in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as their friends and families. The event was attended by over 100 people who had the chance to network, socialize and discussed current events in German-American business.

U.S. Consul General Pauline Kao emphasized the significance of working together with the business community and the City of D眉sseldorf. She shared how the transatlantic business community has evolved in North-Rhine Westphalia鈥檚 capital. The Rhein Fire American football team, direct flights from D眉sseldorf Airport to the United States, and Sister Cities with partnerships between municipalities in the U.S.and NRW were highlighted as examples of transatlantic partnership. Moreover, Kao underlined three pillars of transatlantic relations, which are security, prosperity, and common values.
Dr. Stephan Keller, Mayor of the City of D眉sseldorf, stressed the importance of German-American cooperation and the strong transatlantic footprint felt between D眉sseldorf and the U.S. He emphasized the NFL鈥檚 commitment to local engagement.
Jim Tomsula, American football coach and head coach for the Rhein Fire in the European League of Football (ELF), then continued with his remarks, in which he gave insights into American football and emphasized that working together in community is true teamwork.
