In our session on "Diversity in Transatlantic Business 鈥� How to Manage Talent Acquisition in a Competitive Environment," we will discuss a core issue in the broader context of both Germany鈥檚 competitiveness and current developments in the transatlantic arena. Our panelists will introduce first-hand experience-based evaluations regarding the main challenges in their respective field when it comes to talent acquisition, their strategies to tackle these challenges, and their motivation to do so. We will debate whether they feel adequately supported by government institutions and their economic policy initiatives in this, and if and why we ought to look at both Germany and the United States for best practices and guiding examples when it comes to diversity in business, and the issue of talent acquisition. With global geopolitical tensions manifesting across security, economics and trade, and as the U.S., EU nations and China try to calibrate relations to manage their interests without crossing red lines, we take a case study approach to how some of the challenges play out in a specific digital economy marketplace 鈥� data infrastructure.

As a new EU mandate opens, we are witnessing new intersections between geopolitics and security, market discipline, industrial policy and trade rules. In turn, this is requiring us to consider new frameworks for the development, deployment and security of new technologies. These include a growing recognition of the need to establish criteria that can unite functional and values-based ambitions as a basis for trust. All these impact the quality and sustainability of resilience we need to deliver digital transformation.

Key questions include:

• How can these trends be best understood and managed in Germany and more widely?
• Are there security risks to data that require new approaches to public procurement and private sector risk management?
• Can nonmarket behaviours - like the limitlessless de facto export subsidies received by non-market economy actors - be tolerated in market economies indefinitely? And if not, what are the policy solutions that are available?
